This year marked the 25th year of the MTV Movie Awards, and to celebrate in a big way, the award show took place on the entire backing lot of the Warner Bros. Studios. And what better way to celebrate the 25th year than by have Kevin Hart and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson host the show together.

The “Central Intelligence” co-stars definitely kept the show going and there were tons of memorable moments. Here are the top 5 moments from the 2016 MTV Movie Awards:

1: Straight Outta Compton wins “True Story” presented by Kendrick Lamar

N.W.A had a big weekend as the legendary rap group was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and Kendrick Lamar was there to pay tribute. A day later the cast of their film “Straight Outta Compton: The N.W.A Story” wins for telling the true story of the rap group. Jason Mitchell even took a quick shot at the Academy, as we all know they were snubbed at this years Academy Awards.

2: Salt-N-Peppa Perform “Shoop”

If you’ve seen the movie “Deadpool” with Ryan Reynolds than you know that one of his theme songs in the film was “Shoop” by Salt-N-Peppa. Therefore, it was only right that the legendary rap duo came out to perform the song as Ryan Reynolds made his way to the stage to accept his award for “Best Comedic Performance”.

3: Will Smith Receives The Generation Award

Will Smith has been in the game for almost thirty years, and is noted as one of the first rappers to successfully transform from music to film. With tons of films under his belt, and his latest “Suicide Squad” coming later this year, Will Smith was honored with the “Generation Award”. And to help honor Smith, both Queen Latifah and Halle Berry spoke on how his films have helped impact a generation.

4: Melissa McCarthy Honored With Comedic Genius

McCarthy’s latest movie “Boss” just hit theaters and MTV took the time to honor her for all of her work throughout the years. There is no doubt that you could not help but laugh at one of her films, if not more. And of course she could not make her way to the stage traditionally, as she crowd surfed her way to the stage.

5: Star Wars: The Force Awaken Wins “Movie of the Year”

The biggest award of the night was saved for last, and with numerous amounts of films that released within the past year. Only one could win, and “Star Wars: The Force Awaken” had a big opening weekend back in December. Daisy Ridley and director J.J Abrams accepted the award for their entire cast.
