“We Shouldn’t Have To Protest Because Y’all Are Treating Us Wrong”: Young Charlotte Girl’s Emotional Response To Recent Police Shootings ( Video Inside)

When it comes to racial tension between the African American community and law enforcement social media and many celebrities have voiced their raw opinion and genuine disgust with many focusing on the recent shooting in Charlotte. Through all of the protests, one group some of us may have yet to hear from is today’s children.

Well, a young and teary eyed Zianna Oliphant took a stand at a Charlotte City Council meeting and we hope it offered a new perspective  for those who still don’t understand the #BlackLivesMatter movement.

“I’ve been born and raised in Charlotte. And I never felt this way till now and I can’t stand how we’re treated,” an emotional Oliphant said via CNN.  “We are black people and we shouldn’t have to feel like this. We shouldn’t have to protest because y’all are treating us wrong. We do this because we need to and have rights.”

The Charlotte meeting comes just days after protests erupted in retaliation to the shooting death of Keith Lamont Scott, whose family says he was killed by police while reading a book in his car.
“It’s a shame that our fathers and mothers are killed and we can’t see them anymore,” Oliphant continued. “It’s a shame that we have to go to their graveyard and bury them. And we have tears. We shouldn’t have tears. We need our fathers and mothers to be by our side.”

Oliphant wasn’t the only one angry and emotional at the meeting either. Many protesters refused to stand for the Pledge of Allegiance as well as voiced their anger on whats going on today. Many protesters filled the City Hall room calling for Mayor Jennifer Robert’s resignation.
