Couple May Serve Just One Year of Jail Time For Their 7 Year Old Son’s Death Due to Child Neglect

CBS news is reporting that Timothy and Sarah Johnson of Plymouth, Minnesota have officially been charged with one count each of child neglect resulting in substantial bodily harm in the death of their 7 year old adopted son. Investigators say that the child died of pancreatitis without any type of medical attention due to his parents allegedly having “issues going to doctors.”

The boy died on March 30 of last year and was found with a considerably Low birth weight with bruises all over his body and blisters all over his legs. His parents told police that his behavior began to change shortly before they found him. The child’s medical records described him as “thriving” and “conversant,” however, The Johnsons claim that the boy developed trouble with eating and sleeping and would often throw himself down the stairs.
Via CBS News:

“In the days before Seth’s death, his parents were out of town for a wedding, leaving their son in the care of an older sibling. The night they returned, the Johnsons found their son hardly moving and said he didn’t react when they “prayed for his health.”

The parents said the boy was barely able to eat two small bites of pizza. They decided to consider in the morning whether or not their son needed to see a doctor.

When the parents woke up, they found Seth unresponsive and called 911. The boy was pronounced dead a short time later.”
If these two are convicted, then they will only serve a maximum of one year in jail and/or a $3,000 fine……
