It has been reported that a shooting at Florida’s Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport has left three dead and at least nine others injured.
According to NBC News, a gunman began shooting near the Terminal 2 baggage claim area at the airport. The airport’s official Twitter also alerted it’s followers about the incident. Reports say people were either forced to evacuate and some were even forced back on their planes as officials tried to get the situation under control.
“You’re trying to understand, is this a one-off guy? Regardless of motive, is he alone, or is there something else?” law enforcement expert Jim Cavanaugh told MSNBC. “We hate to think that way, but that’s the requirement for police commanders — to think that way.”
Luckily, the gunman has been taken into custody.
Former White House press secretary Ari Fleisher was also present at the time of the shooting and detailed what he saw on Twitter:
