Billboard Announces Chart Delay Just Days After Tyler The Creator Calls Tidal Out Over Free Streaming Ploy

Billboard Announces Chart Delay Just Days After Tyler The Creator Calls Tidal Out Over Free Streaming Ploy

#TylerTheCreator recently accused Tidal of manipulating streaming records in order to affect who takes the #1 spot on the Billboard chart this week. Tyler called out the streaming service after they allowed Meek Mill’s #WinsAndLosses album to be streamed for free in front of the subscriber paywall which could and probably will affect the chart.

Meek’s album along with Tyler’s #FlowerBoy and #LanaDelRey’s Lust For Life albums are all projected to sell within the 85,000-90,000 range which is why he came for Tidal in his since-deleted tweets.

In a mysterious turn of events, Billboard is now reporting that a technical difficulty has delayed them from announcing the charts this week.

In a statement posted to their website, Billboard says, “Due to this issue, and because there is a close race for No. 1 on the Billboard 200 albums chart, Billboard is holding back the release of all of its Aug. 12-dated charts until we get further clarity from the data provider. The chart results will be announced and posted as soon as possible this week. Thank you for your patience.”

This is interesting timing, Roommates! Do you think there’s some funny business going on?
