Rishard Matthews Says His Tweet Was Never Supposed To Be Seen; Calls Tweet A ‘Bad Decision’

#Roommates, earlier this week Titans wide receiver Rishard Matthews made headlines after saying he would quit the NFL if the owners made a rule requiring players to stand for the national anthem! Well, we all say things we really don’t mean and let’s just say Rishard isn’t ready to let that check go just yet!

“Not right now,” Matthews said, via Paul Kuharsky of paulkuharsky.com, when asked if he was serious about retiring. “Let’s hope it doesn’t get to that. I know the owners have got a meeting next weekend, so hopefully it won’t get to that.”

“Sometimes people, as you all know, tweet some ignorant things out at some moments, and that was an ignorant thing I tweeted out at that given moment. I take full responsibility. That’s why it went down [was deleted], but somebody caught me with a screen shot.”

He has since called the tweet a mistake.

“I’m a man, and sometimes you make bad decisions at the wrong time,” Matthews said. “And at that time, I made a bad decision to tweet that out at that given moment.”

According to Yahoo, Rishard has been staying in the locker room room during the national anthem ever since Trump criticized the NFL players protest a couple weeks ago. The site also reports that on Sept. 28 he announced that he was donating $75,000 to a group of “organizations working in oppressed communities.”
