Shereé Whitfield Opens Up About “Toxic” Marriage With Her Children During Last Night’s Episode Of RHOA

#Roommates, when is the best or most appropriate time to talk to your kids about the truth of who their father may or may not be? On last night’s episode of #RHOA, #ShereéWhitfield sat down for the first time with her adult kids to discuss her abusive relationship with ex-husband Bob Whitfield.

Shereé first mentioned the abuse she endured on the previous season of the show and mentioned during the reunion that she “suppressed” the abuse in order to protect her children. The reality star, who has since become an ambassador for the National Coalition of Domestic Violence, says that she would have never spoken about it if it hadn’t come up.

Now, Shereé has provided new insight into the alleged abuse with children Kairo, 21, Kaleigh, 18, and Tierra Fuller, 32. “I’m sure y’all are on the internet, y’all heard the story about the domestic violence in the household,” she began. “You know, I just kind of kept you guys away from, didn’t let you guys know what was going on . I just put on a happy face, but it was very toxic.”

Kairo was shocked to learn about this simply, because Bob never mentioned a word about the abuse. Kaleigh, however, was already hip to her parents’ past and revealed that her father had tried to explain himself, but she didn’t really want to hear it. “Me and dad talked about it,” Kaleigh said. “He tried to explain the story to me, but I just drove off. It was after a soccer game, so I didn’t think it was appropriate.”

Ultimately, Shereé told her story so that her children will know what is and isn’t acceptable in a relationship. “You need to know that nobody deserves to be mistreated,” Shereé said. “You know, sometimes girls are thinking, ‘He hit me, he loves me.’ That’s not true. That’s not the way life should be. I don’t want you guys to follow my footsteps.”

Roommates, if you or anyone you know is suffering from domestic violence, please call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233.
