63-Year-Old Woman Attends University Where Her Ancestors Were Slaves

A 63-year-old woman is making headlines for attending the school that enslaved her ancestors. According to CNN, Mélisande Short-Colomb is a descendant of the 272 slaves that were sold by Jesuits to fund Georgetown University, where she just completed her freshman year.

All the descendants of those slaves were reportedly offered a special legacy admission status as part of Georgetown’s efforts to make amends for its role in the slave trade.
Short-Colomb, who is a mother of four and grandmother of two, said her time at the school has allowed her to learn more about her ancestors and trace her family tree.
Roomies, do you agree with her decision to attend #GeorgetownUniversity?
