A Food Service Worker At Comerica Park Was Fired After A Video Of Him Spitting On A Pizza Went Viral

#Roommates, I don’t know about y’all but I cringe every time I see a story about workers playing with people’s food and this story out of #Detroit is just plain nasty.

A food service worker at #ComericaPark, where the #DetroitTigers play, has been fired after a video was posted to #Instagram allegedly showing him spitting on a pizza, @wxyzdetroit reports. The video shows the employee spitting on the pizza, then rubbing it in.

Not only was the man fired, but officials say he is now in police custody and could face charges. The incident actually happened Friday at a lower level stand behind home plate.

“As soon as we became aware through social media of potential food tampering Friday night, we immediately closed that food stand and disposed of all the product. Food safety is our top priority and we will take any appropriate action necessary to protect our guests,” said Detroit Sportservice.

Quinelle May, who posted the video, said that his fellow employee was “mad and having a bad day” and also claimed to have done it in the past. May said after he recorded the video, he went to the bathroom looking around to tell people about the video, but he couldn’t find anybody.

He added that his managers got mad at him and shut him down when he tried to tell them.

“Every time I tried to talk, they told me to shut up,” said May. He said he was told to leave and threatened with prosecution if he didn’t take the ig post down.

A spokesperson for Detroit Sportservice says May has not been fired but was suspended. Detroit Sportservice released the following statement:

“The employee who filmed and posted the video was sent home from the game Friday evening on an unrelated uniform violation prior to us learning about the food tampering via the video being posted on social media. Our only subsequent communication with that employee was to let him know that he would not be working Saturday or Sunday. No one acting in an official work capacity asked him to remove the video. We referred information regarding the video to the Detroit Police Department and they have told us it is an active investigation.”

We’ll keep you posted on the latest, #Roomies.
