A woman distressed about being forced to return back to her native country attempted to kill herself at New York’s John F. Kennedy airport on Thursday.
Her suicide attempt came one day before Donald Trump made the decision to suspend immigration from certain regions.
According to The New York Daily News the woman was being held at customs in terminal eight waiting for her flight back to Chile. That is when she reportedly took 30 sleeping pills and a few muscle relaxants.
A law enforcement source said on Saturday, “She really didn’t want to go back to Chile. She was intent on killing herself.”
The woman then fell unconscious and had difficulty breathing. Port Authority police officers were called to the scene and administered Narcan, which is “a nasal spray version of Naloxone used by law enforcement agencies across the country to help overdose patients.”
The drug revived the woman and she was taken to Jamaica Hospital in stable condition.
Glad to hear that she is okay.
