Al Sharpton kept his promise and met with Meek Mill behind bars today. The civil rights leader agreed to lend his support to help free Meek, the same way he did Tupac back in the 90s.
During a press conference today, Sharpton said Meek is a symbol of the abuse of the system and the rapper wants him to help shed light on the issues. “Meek represents thousands of people in Pennsylvania and tens of thousands around the country that have been victimized by an abusive probationary and parole system that gives room for judges to act way beyond what is necessary,” he said.
Sharpton attended the event alongside Meek’s attorney Joe Tacopina.
As we previously reported, Meek is currently serving time at Chester State Correctional Institution outside of Philly for violating his probation.
