American Woman Becomes A Princess After Marrying Ethiopian Prince She Met In A D.C. Club

#Roommates, you never know where your Prince Charming is hiding because he could be up in your local bar! One American woman is living a complete fairytale after marrying a prince she met in a D.C. bar! Talk about true life “Coming To America.”

According to People, Ariana Austin, 33, met lawyer Joel Makonnen, 35, at the Pearl nightclub in Washington, D.C., and she had no idea she was speaking to royalty.

“I said: ‘You guys look like an ad for Bombay Sapphire’,” Joel told The New York Timesabout his opening line to Ariana when they met on the dance floor at the club in December 2005.

“Not even five minutes later I said: ‘You’re going to be my girlfriend.’ ”

The two hit off and eventually started dating and Joel eventually told her the big secret he was hiding: He’s Prince Joel Makonnen, grandson of the last Emperor of Ethiopia and a direct descendent of King Solomon and the Queen of Sheba.

“It’s unbeatable heritage and history,” Austin told the New York Times. “It combines sheer black power and ancient Christian tradition.”

Ariana secured her spot in the royal book when she married Austin on Sept. 9 in an Ethiopian Orthodox ceremony at the Debre Genet Medhane Alem Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church in Temple Hills, Maryland.
