#TSRTech: Apple Files Patent To Disable Cameras At Concerts And Museums!

A few days ago we told you guys about the new addition to iPhones that come with the new iOS 10 update but we didn’t tell you about the feature to disable your phone’s camera at concerts.

Yes! So according to Patently Apple, Apple recently filed a patent for technology “allowing the temporary disabling of iPhone cameras within certain areas.”

They are anticipating that with the new technology there will be less cases of bootleg videos and photos in places like concerts and museums.

Apparently it operates using infrared signal transmitted from the venue prohibiting camera usage. That signal would then communicate with the iPhone that was being pointed at it, then disabling the camera. However, that’s not all!

It will allow you to keep the video and or picture you already took but it will either insert a watermark, blur it out, or alter it how they see fit.

The good news is that there’s a chance Apple may not get to this patent soon or at all for that matter. They typically file hundreds of patents per year but not many end up in commercial use.

Either way it goes, that’s kind of next level creepy.

How are y’all feeling about this patent, #Roommates?
