Earlier this week, we reported on two women out of Independence, MO who are accusing their local #Applebees of racial profiling. They were escorted out of the restaurant after they were confronted by a city cop, mall officer and the restaurant manager about a dine-and-dash incident that occurred the day before.
The women maintained their innocence, however called the restaurant for information as to why exactly they were removed from the restaurant. A restaurant employee told them that they fit the “skinny” and “wore makeup” description that their accuser had given them.
Today, Applebee’s issued a formal apology to these women. “We recognize the hurt and pain caused by the recent incident,” the company said in a statement. “We very much regret this occurred and sincerely apologize to our guests and community.”
“We are reaching out to the guests involved to apologize directly. We know rebuilding trust with those affected by the incident will take time, and we look forward to finding resolution in the coming days.”
There’s no word on whether or not all is forgiven, so we’ll keep y’all posted!
