Baby Ibuprofen Has Been Recalled From Walmart, CVS And Family Dollar

#Roommates, check those medicine cabinets! A New Jersey based pharmaceutical company issued a recall of its infants’ liquid ibuprofen after discovering higher concentrations of medication in some packages.

#TrisPharma said it voluntarily recalled three lots of “Infants’ Ibuprofen Concentrated Oral Suspension, USP (NSAID)” because it possibly contained higher amounts of ibuprofen than advertised, @ABCNews reports.

“There is a remote possibility that infants, who may be more susceptible to a higher potency level of drug, and therefore may be more vulnerable to permanent NSAID-associated renal injury,” the statement said. “Adverse effects that may be experienced are nausea, vomiting, epigastric pain, or more rarely, diarrhea. Tinnitus, headache and gastrointestinal bleeding are also possible adverse effects.” The recalled drugs were sold at #Walmart, #CVS and #FamilyDollar locations under store-brand names, Tris Pharma said.

“To date, Tris Pharma Inc. has not received any reports of adverse events related to the lots of product that are the subject of this recall,” the company added.

Tris Pharma said it sold the affected lots “to one customer, which distributed the lots into the U.S. market.”

Officials did not list the distributor’s name, but they said they sent out an “urgent recall notice” and are arranging for the return of the recalled product.

The baby ibuprofen is among several items being recalled in the U.S. right now.

There have also been recalls for raw beef products, romaine lettuce and raw ground turkey.

A salmonella outbreak called for the raw turkey products to be recalled just days before Thanksgiving. The recall was linked to the Jennie-O brand and mainly consisted of raw ground turkey products.

Salmonella was also the culprit for the recent beef recall and E. Coli was the reason for lettuce being recalled.

Be sure you’re checking to make sure you’re not consuming any of these products while the recalls are going on, #Roommates, and stay tuned here for more updates.
