Ever since #BillCosby received his guilty verdict last month, we have slowly watched how strongly it’s impacting his legacy.
In addition to reruns of ‘The Cosby Show’ being pulled from a couple of networks, honorary degrees being revoked and being expelled from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Cosby is now losing his Kennedy Center Honors which are awarded to entertainers for their lifetime contributions to American culture
“The Honors and Mark Twain Prize are given to artists who, through their lifetime of work, have left an indelible impact on American culture,” the Kennedy Center said in a statement.
“As a result of Mr. Cosby’s recent criminal conviction, the Board concluded that his actions have overshadowed the very career accomplishments these distinctions from the Kennedy Center intend to recognize.”
The board for the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts voted on Monday to rescind Cosby’s Honors award and the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor that he received in 1998 and 2009.
