Boyz II Men Gets A Street Named After Them In Philadelphia

This past weekend the R&B group Boyz II Men were honored in their hometown of Philadelphia by getting a street named after them.

According to CBS Philly, Councilman Kenyatta Johnson said the group’s success has been an inspiration for the entire city. He said, “When they got their record deal, it was like we all made it. It was like everybody from the neighborhood made it because Boyz II Men made it.”

The unveiling of the new street name took place in front of the groups, Alma Matter, the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts, which is located on Broad Street.

The current members Nathan Morris, Shawn Stockman and Wanya Morris were all present for the ceremony. Nathan Morris said, “I mean, it’s one of those things you don’t think about and when you see it, it kind of puts you in a different headspace. I mean, growing up on these streets and then somebody puts your name up on the street sign is pretty special.”

The group formed back in the 1980’s and went on to release multiple albums, and have success with their hit songs, “End of the Road,” “A Song For Mama,” “On Bended Knee,” and many others.

Their fourth member Michael McCray left the group back in 2003 due to health issues.

Congrats to Boyz II Men.
