Don Cheadle To Portray Wall Street’s First Black Millionaire In New Project

Actor Don Cheadle is gearing up to bring yet another amazing story to our screens, and this time it will be about Wall Street’s first black millionaire.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Don Cheadle has acquired both the film and television rights to the 2015 book, “Prince of Darkness,” by Shane White.

Cheadle is expected to star in the project, as well as produce. Steven Baigelman who worked with Cheadle on the Miles Davis biopic, “Miles Ahead,” is expected to pen the script for the project.

“Prince of Darkness: The Untold Story of Jeremiah G. Hamilton, Wall Street’s First Black Millionaire,” tells the story of Jeremiah Hamilton’s success in New York City during the 19th century shortly after being chased out of Haiti.

He would go on to become a broker and land agent who owned stock in the rail companies he was prevented from riding on.

During the time of his death in 1875, he was known as the richest black man in America.

Shane White’s “Prince of Darkness,” would go on to win the Society of Historians of the Early American Republic’s best book prize and the 2016 New York City Book Award.
