Mexico has been added to the list of places that need extra prayer and some helping hands. Late Thursday, the strongest earthquake to hit Mexico in a century hit Mexico city HARD. According to reports, the earthquake had a magnitude of 8.2 and has killed at least 32 people.

The New York Times reports that “the effects in the southern states of Chiapas and Oaxaca were probably more severe.”

Schools in at least ten Mexican states and in Mexico City have been ordered to close Friday.

President Enrique Peña Nieto says the population is safe and there should be no major sense of panic:

“We are assessing the damage, which will probably take hours, if not days. But the population is safe over all. There should not be a major sense of panic.”

Our Roommates are in our prayers.
