The NFL released a statement confirming their decision to suspend Dallas Cowboys’ Ezekiel Elliot just a little over a year since he was alleged to have been involved in a domestic violence incident. The league claims he broke their code of conduct. He’ll be sitting out the first six 2017 regular-season games.

The statement states that the league conducted an extensive investigation where they interviewed more than a dozen witnesses including his accuser and after consulting with medical experts, they have concluded that “there is substantial and persuasive evidence supporting a finding that [Elliot] engaged in physical violence against [Tiffany] Thompson on multiple occasions during the week of July 16, 2016.”

Stay tuned for details as they develop.
