A Nevada man murdered his own 14-year-old son because he was gay.
According to NBC News, United Airlines employee and former pilot Wendell Melton fatally shot his son, Giovanni Melton, at his apartment on Thursday. Giovanni’s foster mom, Sonja Jones, said it had to do with Giovanni’s sexual orientation.
“He hated the fact that his son was gay,” Jones said of Melton. “I’m sure that inside of his mind, he would rather have a dead son than a gay son.”
“Giovanni was abused physically and mentally and spiritually for many, many years,” Jones added.
What’s interesting about this is that she says Melton allegedly pulled a gun out on Giovanni in the past after he caught him with a dude.
Melton is expected to appear court this week to face preliminarily charges for the murder of his son.
