Five People Busted For Allegedly Counterfeiting More Than 380K Pairs Of Air Jordans Worth $70 Million

#Roommates, we all know our local kicks man who got the shoe game on lock, but is he doing it as big as the five #NewYork residents who got busted for allegedly conspiring to traffic in more than $70 million worth of counterfeit #NikeAirJordans?

The defendants – #MiyukiSuen, #JianMinHuang, #SonghuaQu, #KinLuiChen, and #FangrangQu – were arrested and charged in #Manhattan Federal Court today, according to the office for the U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York. The squad is accused of importing more than 380,000 pairs of sneakers from China to the states and then slapping the #Nike-trademarked logos onto the shoes in New York. That’s a lot of #Wookies, #Roomies.

“The five defendants in this case allegedly counterfeited over $70 million in fake Nike shoes and sold them to buyers on the U.S. market. I commend our law enforcement partners for helping to bring today’s charges, which send a clear message to would-be counterfeiters: ‘Just don’t do it,’” said Manhattan U.S. Attorney #GeoffreySBerman in a statement.

The shoes were discovered in multiple warehouses and storage units as well as a residence connected to the scheme.

Authorities say each defendant faces a maximum potential sentence of 20 years in prison. We’ll keep you posted on the latest, #Roomies.
