Freaknik’s Back! Iconic Atlanta Festival To Return This Labor Day Weekend

To some of our older Roommates, how many of y’all remember #Freaknik? For those of you who may not be aware of it, it was an iconic gathering of sorts that kicked off Spring Break in the #AUC It catered to all the “freaks” around the world, but it’s increasing popularity created traffic problems and organizers accrued lawsuits from business owners and residents which ultimately led to the parties being banned. However, the parties have been given the Greenlight to take place this Labor Day weekend and it will be everything.

Promoter Danny Hefner tells the AJC, “It is real. We’re expecting a lot of people from all over the country.” Thousands are expected to attend the festivities which include a classic wet t-shirt contest and a twerk-off. Even though Hefner is only 20 years old, he’s heard stories about the original Freaknik parties and vows that this year’s event will be “a one time thing for our generation.”

Organizers have hired plenty of security and police in order to conduct the flow of traffic and they’ve even reserved plenty of lots so that attendees will have places to park. If you’ve ever been to Atlanta, then you KNOW that our traffic sucks and that there’s never anywhere to park, so the fact that they’ve arranged this so far in advance is great.

Who’s attending Freaknik this year?!
