Grambling State University Student & Friend Fatally Shot On Campus During Homecoming Week

#Roommates, we are sad to report that two young men at Grambling State University were shot and killed on campus early Wednesday morning.

According to CNN, one victim was identified as 23-year-old Earl Andrews, a senior at the HBCU from Farmerville, Louisiana. The second victim was his hometown friend, 23-year-old Monquiarius Caldwell, who was on campus visiting at the time.

Sources says the gunman fled the scene, and the victims’ bodies were discovered in the courtyard between two dormitories. Police are currently looking for the shooter and believe there was an altercation in a dorm room that led to the shooting.

“This is a horrible tragedy … our prayers are with the victims and their families,” university spokesman Will Sutton told CNN. “There’s no place for violence on the Grambling State University campus. We always encourage our students to be safe, to be aware, to watch who they hang out with, and to watch who’s around at all times. And this is a most unfortunate situation.”

The university’s homecoming activities kicked off last Sunday.
