We previously reported that Russell Simmons has made the decision to step down from his businesses in the wake of the recent sexual assault claims against him.

Following his announcement, HBO revealed their decision to remove his name from the upcoming show “All Def Comedy,” which is scheduled to premiere on Friday.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, a spokesman said, “HBO will be airing All Def Comedy as planned. However, Russell Simmons will not appear in the new series and we will be removing his name from the show moving forward. The series is a platform for promising and upcoming comedians and we do not want to deprive them of an opportunity to showcase their talents to a national audience. We have no other projects with Russell Simmons.”

The six half-hour episodes of “All Def Comedy” were a part of Simmons’ overall first-look deal with HBO.

Simmons partnering with the HBO is nothing new. The network housed “Russell Simmons’ Def Comedy Jam,” which aired from 1992-1997.
