A Minnesota judge has ruled that Prince’s estate, which court filings indicate is worth around $200 million, will go to his six siblings.
In his ruling filed Thursday, May 18, Carver County District Court Judge Kevin Edie declared that the heirs of Prince’s estate are his sister Tyka Nelson, and five half-siblings — Omarr Baker, Alfred Jackson, John R. Nelson, Norrine Nelson and Sharon Nelson.
The ruling comes more than a year after the legendary musician died of a drug overdose on April 21, 2016, at the age of 57. According to ABC News, he died without a will.
Following his death, more than 45 people have filed claims of heirship to his estate, the Associated Press reports.
An “Affidavit of Heirship” is a legal document used to determine the legal heirs of a deceased person and distribute the decedent’s property. It is typically used when an individual dies intestate, meaning without a will.
Prince’s infamous Paisley Park residence and recording complex has since been turned into a museum.
