Justice For Junior: Lesandro ‘Junior’ Guzman-Feliz Gets Street Named After Him In The Bronx On His Mother’s Birthday

TSR Angelz: Roommates, social media was rocked when news of ‘Junior’ Guzman’s brutal murder in front of a Bronx deli unraveled to the world. People around the country joined in mourning, using #JusticeForJunior.
Wednesday, the Bronx community City Council Member, Ritchie Torres, and members of the NYPD Explorers program joined Junior’s family in celebration, as he was honored with a street name in his memory.
Junior’s mother, Leandra Feliz, celebrated her first birthday without her son as the sign was unveiled.
“This is all special,” Junior’s mom, Leandra Feliz, said. “I’m so surprised. It’s something that I connect with me…to make him feel close to me.
According to ABC 7 NY, the new street, Lesandro Guzman-Feliz Way, is on the corner of East 183rd and Bathgate Avenue where the 15-year old was brutally killed by several men last June. Junior was dragged out of a bodega and stabbed several times with a machete.
Unfortunately, Junior’s murder is believed to be a case of mistaken identity by alleged gang members. Fourteen people have been charged in connection with the case.
“This street will forever be the home, will forever tell the story of Lesandro ‘Junior’ Guzman Feliz,” said Councilman Torres.
Since Junior’s death, officials and law makers have been working to find ways to protect children from gangs and other forms of violence. ‘Junior’s Law’ was proposed last summer, which would require small businesses to be a safe haven for youth in danger.
The street name honors Junior’s legacy and the impact his passing had on thousands of lives. Let’s keep the family and friends in our prayers, Roommates.
