Kellogg’s To Replace Insensitive Corn Pops Boxes Following Twitter Rant

Kellogg’s will be rolling out some brand new
Corn Pops cereal boxes after someone complained about the “racially insensitive art on the packaging.”

According to USA Today, the cereal company announced on Twitter Wednesday that it will be replacing the art on the back of the box, which shows cartoon Corn Pops in the mall. There were pops skateboarding, shopping, talking, and playing games but one pop in particular caught Saladin Ahmed’s eye!

He noticed that their was only one brown pop, and he was working as a janitor.

Saladin tweeted, “Why is this the only brown corn pop on the whole cereal box the janitor? This is teaching kids racism.”

He added, “Yes it’s a tiny thing, but when you see your kid staring at this over breakfast and realize millions of other kids are doing the same…”

Kellogg’s responded to Ahmed on social media and said, “Kellogg is committed to diversity & inclusion. We did not intend to offend – we apologize. The artwork is updated & will be in stores soon.”

Kellogg’s released a statement to USA Today saying, “Kellogg Company has respect for all people, and our commitment to diversity and inclusion has long been a top priority. We take feedback very seriously, and it was never our intention to offend anyone. We apologize sincerely. The package artwork has been updated and will begin to appear on store shelves soon as it flows through distribution.”
