Rapper Young Dolph was shot multiple times in Hollywood on Tuesday, and police arrested 43-year-old Corey McClendon in connection to the shooting. According to The LA Times, he was booked on suspicion of attempted murder and he’s an alleged associate of rapper Yo Gotti. The department recently released his above mugshot.
According to police, 32-year-old Young Dolph, whose real name is Adolph Thornton Jr., was confronted by three men outside the Loews Hollywood Hotel. After a fight broke out, one of the men pulled out a gun and shot Dolph, leaving him critically injured near the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue.
Los Angeles Police Chief Charlie Beck said the department believes Dolph was “targeted because of who he is and some kind of beef that’s ongoing… I think this was something he brought with him from across the United States,” he said. Both men are Memphis, Tennessee natives.
Dolph is expected to recover from the gunshot wounds. He was moved from critical to stable condition following a surgery on Tuesday.
