Lori Loughlin, A.K.A. ‘Aunt Becky,’ Has Surrendered To The FBI In Connection With ‘Varsity Blues’ Investigation

The #FBI is reporting that #LoriLoughlin, whom we all know as #AuntBecky from “Full House”, has surrendered in connection with the college admissions bribery scandal.

She is scheduled to appear in court this afternoon. Prosecutors allege that she and her husband, fashion designer Mossimo Giannulli, paid $500,000 to have their two daughters labeled as recruits to the University of Southern California crew team, even though neither of the girls actually participated in the sport.

She was among 50 people charged in the grand scheme.

According to Fox News, federal authorities have charged college coaches, standardized test administrators, and star-studded parents who paid enormous amounts of money to guarantee their children’s admission into elite schools.

History tells of the wealthy donating money to universities to get their children admitted, or even paying for buildings and computers–but prosecutors say this is flat out fraud.
Parents reportedly paid admissions consultant, William Singer, a total of $25 million from 2011 through February 2019 to bribe coaches and administrators to falsely label their children as recruited athletes. The list of schools includes Yale, Georgetown, Stanford, UCLA, and the University of Texas.
Among the parents involved are were Loughlin, and “Desperate Housewives” star Felicity Huffman. Authorities say the women, along with other parents, would pay Singer to bribe university athletic coaches to list their children as admitted athletes, hire individuals to take the children’s SAT and ACT exams for them, or bribe testing center proctors to correct answers on the exams.
“There can be no separate college admission system for the wealthy and there will not be a separate criminal justice system either,” U.S. Attorney Andrew Leiling said.
Huffman and her husband allegedly helped their daughter’s admission process by donating $15,000 to Singer’s fake charity, ‘Key Worldwide Foundation’. The funds were then used to pay an SAT proctor to correct their daughter’s answers on the exam.
At this time, William Singer has been charged with racketeering conspiracy, money laundering conspiracy, and obstruction of justice. Huffman and Loughlin face charges of conspiracy to commit mail fraud and honest services mail fraud.
