Matt Barnes Wants His Child Support Payments Reduced From $20k A Month To $2k Per Child

Matt Barnes is going for another ‘W’ in court #Roommates! The retired NBA player recently won primary custody of his two sons, and wants a judge to change how much he pays Gloria Govan monthly for child support.

According to @Blast, Matt has the boys for the majority of the time and doesn’t feel it’s necessary to keep paying Gloria $20,000 a month, when they are barely with her for that long. Gloria gets the boys Wendsay evenings for dinner and every other weekend.

Matt says his salary isn’t the same as it was when he was in the NBA when the child support agreement was put in place.

He said he brings home around $150,000 and “and after using the court’s child support algorithm, believes he should only be paying $2,798 per child monthly. That equates to a total annual payment of $67,148 to Govan for the boys.”

Matt is hoping that a judge grants his request. Gloria hasn’t responded to Matt’s request but I’m sure she will.

Matt’s request comes just days after he took to social media and called out women who misuse child support payments and splurge on theirselves, instead of on the kids. He went in on the court system, and talked about mothers who use the money and go on lavish trips and live well behind their means. He said the system needs to be fixed because it doesn’t cost that much to raise children.

“We know the system is broken,” Barnes said. “It don’t cost $60,000, $50,000, $40,000, $20,000 to raise no children. We all know that. Most of these women are out here buying cars, buying bags, taking vacations off that child support money.”
