Mexico Hit With New 6.1-Magnitude Earthquake, Totaling 3 Major Quakes This Month

A 6.1 magnitude earthquake shook southern Mexico this morning, less than a week after a powerful 7.1 quake destroyed numerous building and left hundreds dead.

According to reports, the quake was centered about 275 miles southeast of Mexico City and it toppled already damaged homes, schools and a highway bridge.

As we reported early, the county was also hit with a 8.1 magnitude quake on September 7. That’s a total of three this month, taking the lives of nearly 400 people.

Thankfully, there were no immediate reports of new deaths from Saturday’s trembler.
