Miami Heat Waive Chris Bosh & Will Retire His Jersey Number

ChrisBosh has been suffering from blood clots in his legs and has not been cleared to play basketball for over a year now. Doctors still have not given the basketball player a clean bill of health which means that he will not be able to finish out the next two years of his contract with the #MiamiHeat. Team President #PatRiley made the announcement today, but not without calling Bosh “one of the greatest players in the history” of the Miami Heat franchise.

“We will forever be indebted to CB for how he changed this team and led us to four trips to the NBA Finals and two NBA championships,” Riley said. “He is, without a doubt, one of the greatest players in the history of the franchise.” Even though Chris will not be playing ball with the Heat, he’s still going to be making a ton of cash and could still play on another team that deems him fit enough.

Via ESPN:

“[The decision to waive Bosh) gives Miami access to $25.3 million in salary-cap space for this coming season, which the Heat will use to sign free agents starting Thursday. Bosh still gets that salary, plus $26.8 million for next season, and in theory could continue his career if another team declares him fit to play. Miami is projected to have $12 million in cap space that could increase to $37 million.”

Chris Bosh’s No. 1 jersey has officially been retired today.
