#Roommates, tax season is upon us and it’s important that when you get your refund checks that you’re very discreet about it because in today’s society you just can’t trust anyone. Keiauna Lynette Davis, 27, lost her life over a simple check!
According to Rolling Out, On Feb. 22, 2018 Davis went to work to start her shift at the local Dollar Tree. Her tax refund check had just hit her account and her grandmother brought $3k in cash up to her job during her lunch break.
Police say Keiauna’s co-worker Alana Whitley found out she had some large cash on her and began to plot about how to get it.
She hit up her friend Dane James Taylor, 21, and said , “This girl at my job brought 7 bands to work ain’t that some sh-t.”
Alana and James both came up with the plan to rob Keiauna when she got off work. James hit up another guy, Kajin Xavier Scott, 23, to help with robbery.
When they spotted Keiauna outside Kajin stopped his car and acted like he was fixing it. As Keiauna passed by, James hopped out the the car with a gun and chased her down the street yelling, “Give it to me!”
He ended up chasing her into a vacant lot where she fell. She told him she didn’t have any money and tried to get up but James allegedly pushed her back down and fired two shots at her. The first bullet missed and the other hit her in the hip.
They took her money and left her bleeding on the sidewalk. What’s interesting about this is that James and Kajin both walked away for $800 and Alana took home the rest. Was it really worth it for $800?
Police were able to obtain surveillance footage and caught the suspects. All three have been charged with robbery, criminal homicide, and conspiracy.
