Ledrika E. Ford, a 17-year-old mom from New York, has been charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child after her infant son was found crawling in the middle of a busy street!
Police were first notified of the incident after a video circulated on Facebook on Friday. After that, an investigation was immediately started. Upon locating Ford, she and a relative insisted to police that they had no idea of how the child became unsecured.
“She advised officers that the infant was secured in the rear of a vehicle that she was in when they left a location on Bleecker St.,” Utica Police said in a statement. “A short time later, she looked to the back seat and found that the child was not there. They immediately returned to the area of Pellettieri Ave. and Bleecker St. where they located her child.”
The police department especially thanks citizens who contacted them on behalf of the endangered child. Thank God he was unharmed!
