On Thursday the sexual assault case against Nelly was dropped after the woman who accused him of rape refused to testify against him.
Now that the case has officially been dropped, it looks like Nelly is now taking legal action to clear his name.
According to Billboard, the rapper released a statement through his lawyer, Scott Rosenblum, detailing his next steps.
The statement reads, “Nelly has suffered very real damage to his reputation. He has incurred an economic loss and painfully has watched his family suffer. As a result, Nelly is planning to proceed with litigation as the first step in restoring his reputation. A thorough investigation did show Nelly was a victim of deceitful allegation devoid of credibility. Credible evidence did show this accuser to be deceptive.”
As we previously reported, the alleged victim decided not to press charges. The attorney for the woman claims the pressure of accusing a huge star was too much for her client to handle.
