North Carolina Mayoral Candidate Slammed For Listing ‘White’ As Campaign Qualification

A Charlotte, North Carolina mayoral candidate is receiving a lot of backlash for listing one of her qualifications as being “white.” #Roommates, do you think she was in the wrong though?

Here’s the tea. According to reports, Kimberley Paige Barnette posted “VOTE FOR ME… REPUBLICAN & SMART, WHITE, TRADITIONAL” in a now-deleted Facebook post. The campaign message rubbed a lot of people the wrong way, including GOP Chairman Robin Haye.

“Any suggestion that a candidate is more or less qualified for political office based on their skin color alone, is offensive to North Carolina Republicans and we condemn it,” he shared in a statement. “This type of suggestion has no place in our public discourse.”

In response, Barnette said, “There is a group called Congressional Black Caucus. I’m sorry if I described myself as white and it offended others.”

Although she removed the post, of course the screenshots still exists. Check out the pic below and tell us what you think.
