Rachel Maddow Gets Emotional On Air Over Report About ‘Tender Age’ Shelters For Immigrant Children

As many people continue to disapprove of the current administration’s family separation policy. Rachel Maddow recently showed viewers her emotion towards the horrible situation on air.

According to Deadline, on Tuesday, while on air Maddow started to read a breaking news update from the Associated Press about babies and young children being sent to “tender age,” shelters in Texas after being separated from their families.

Maddow attempted to finish the segment, however, she was overcome with emotion she quickly ended it the segment. She later took to social media to apologize and said, “Ugh, I’m sorry. If nothing else, it is my job to actually be able to speak while I’m on TV… Again, I apologize for losing it there for a moment. Not the way I intended that to go, not by a mile.”

Maddow tweeted out the report that she was not able to finish on air.

Trump administration officials have been sending babies and other young children forcibly separated from their parents to at least three “tender age” shelters in South Texas. Lawyers and medical providers who have visited the “tender age” shelters described playrooms of crying preschool-age children in crisis. The thought that they are going to be putting such little kids in an institutional setting? I mean it is hard for me to even wrap my mind around it,” said Kay Bellor, vice president for programs at Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service, “Toddlers are being detained.”
