It is the start of an all-new NFL season and many fans are upset that Colin Kaepernick still remains unsigned.
At one point the Baltimore Ravens showed interest in the quarterback, but unfortunately, the deal didn’t go through. Now former Ravens linebacker, Ray Lewis is speaking out on why the team decided not to sign Kaepernick.
According to ESPN, Lewis claims that the Ravens did not sign Kaepernick because of a “racist” tweet his girlfriend, Nessa Diab, sent out, which featured Lewis and team owner Steve Biscotti.
Lewis said, “We were going to close the deal to sign him. Steve Bisciotti said, ‘I want to hear Colin Kaepernick speak to let me know that he wants to play football.’”
He continued, “His girl goes out and put out this racist gesture and doesn’t know we are in the back office about to try to get this guy signed. Steve Bisciotti has said it himself: ‘How can you crucify Ray Lewis when Ray Lewis is the one calling for Colin Kaepernick?'”
The tweet Lewis referred to compared a photo of Lewis embracing Biscotti the way Samuel L. Jackson’s character embraced Leonardo Dicaprio’s character in the slave film “Django Unchained.”
Recently, supporters of Kaepernick gathered at the NFL Headquarters in New York City as he remained unsigned as the NFL season began to start.
Roommates, do you really think Nessa’s tweet had anything to do with Kaepernick not getting signed?
