Residential Apartment Building In London Engulfed With Flames

Early Wednesday, a fire ripped through a 24-story residential apartment building, claiming the lives of six people, and injuring dozens of others.

According to Fox News, there were more than 200 firefighters that battled the blaze, which was described by authorities as an “unprecedented incident.” There were at least 74 people treated at local hospitals, with 20 of those people in critical care.

Fire Brigades Union spokesperson Matt Wrack, said something had to go wrong with the buildings fire prevention measures. The cause of the fire is still unknown at the moment.

The building, which has been identified as the Grenfell Tower, in the North Kensington area, seemed to have the entire side engulfed in flames.

Witnesses say they saw many of the residents jumping from the upper floors to escape the fire. One witness said, “I watched one person falling out, I watched another woman holding her baby out the window. I was yelling at everyone to get down and they were saying, ‘we can’t leave our apartments, the smoke is too bad in the corridors.'”

We send our prayers to those affected by this tragedy. This story is still developing.
