We are coming up on four days of straight protesting in #StLouis following the acquittal of former St. Louis Police Officer #JasonStockley who murdered #AnthonyLamarSmith back in 2011. It seems that the officers who have been whisking protesters to jail have had enough of the chaos and created a little chant: “Whose Streets? Our Streets!”

Heather Taylor is the President of The Ethical Society of Police and they primarily represent black police officers in St. Louis. She says that this chant goes against the oath that officers take. It states that they “will never act officiously or permit personal feelings, prejudices, political beliefs, aspirations, animosities or friendships to influence my decisions.”

“That chant goes against the very code of ethics we swore to abide by,” Taylor told HuffPost in a statement. “Whether we agree with demonstrations, protests, or acts of violence, it is our job to do our job free of personal bias.”

A photographer named David Carson said that he addressed the chant with Lt. Col. Leyshock who was present at the scene. While he claimed he didn’t hear it, he said “he would deal with it.”
