Teacher Accidentally Fires Gun And Injures Student During Safety Lesson

#Roommates, get into this story! A teacher trained in gun use accidentally discharged a gun while he was giving a lesson on public safety at a California high school, according to The Hill.

The teacher had the weapon pointed toward the ceiling when it discharged. The school seems to be taking this very seriously because they placed the teacher on administrative leave until the investigation is complete.

“The safety of your student is always our top priority, and we will continue to remain vigilant in our efforts to keep them safe while they are under our care,” a letter to parents said.

Seaside Police Chief Abdul Pridgen told the Monterey County Weekly that a student was struck with “debris or fragmentation from something overhead.”

The chief said the student wasn’t hit with a bullet and it “wasn’t life threatening.”

The teacher is no stranger to guns and actually serves as a reserve police officer for Sandy City and Seaside city councilman. His last gun safety training was “a little less than a year ago,” according to the chief.
