Teacher Suspended After Giving Students An Assignment With Kodak Black Lyrics

A music teacher at DeKalb County’s Bethune Middle School is now suspended after giving students an assignment that included Kodak Black lyrics.

According to WSB-TV, the exercise assigned to the sixth graders required them to take Kodak Black’s lyrics from the song “Drowning” and turn them into positive words.

WSB-TV talked to Crishana Wright, who expressed her disapproval of her daughter’s assignment.

She said, “It was really against everything I try to teach them, you know? I’m reading all these words and I immediately asked her why she had this and she said it was an assignment.”

Wright said she understood the purpose of the assignment but doesn’t think it was properly thought out.

The superintendent later released a statement and said, “The assignment was inappropriate, unacceptable and contrary to our standards. The employee responsible has been removed from the classroom and will be held accountable for such poor judgment. While we encourage teacher creativity, the expectation is that the instruction is always standards-based and age-appropriate.”

Roommates, what are your thoughts?
