Sung Ho Lim, the owner of the Missha Beauty Supply Store in Charlotte, NC is currently under fire after a cellphone video of him choking a female customer has gone viral.
According to WBTV, Lim reportedly accused the female customer of trying to steal a pair of eyelashes from his store. In the video, he can be seen kicking the woman and then wrestles her to the floor where he begins to place her in a choke hold.
Lim confirmed that it was him in the cellphone footage, and says it does not show the woman stealing from his store. He said, “This is my fault. I have to take the whole video and give it to the police.”
Liam has not been charged and police say the female customer has not been identified or arrested. According to the police report, Lim filed for strong armed robbery, and that the incident occurred last week Thursday.
The incident has attracted both community leaders and regular customers who say regardless if the woman was stealing, Lim’s actions were uncalled for.
Teresa Mosely, a regular customer at the beauty supply store said, “When he was choking her, he was almost choking her to death. She was gasping for breath, and he was continually choking her.” She also told the news outlet she will not continue to shop at the beauty supply store.
Civil rights activist John C. Barnett showed up to a recent protest against the store and said, “You cannot take police matters in your own hands. You can’t act like the police. Whatever the case may be, we know he cannot be keeping someone in a choke hold, stealing or not.”
Lim met with protesters and said, “I don’t know, it just happened. I went crazy. No matter what the reason, I feel very sorry to her and to them.”
Lim claimed he planned to apologize to the woman he choked on Monday.
