Trae Tha Truth Files Multi-Million Dollar Lawsuit At Radio One Citing ‘Gross Negligence, Defamation and Tortious Interference’

Houston rapper #TraeThaTruth is widely known by his fans as a public figure who provides exceedingly for his city. Every year, he hosts “Trae Day” in which residents meet their favorite celebrities, receive financial assistance, get immunizations and school supplies among many other things for free!

Unfortunately, an on-air employee at Houston’s Urban Hip-Hop and R&B Station 97.9 The Box reportedly blamed Trae for causing a shooting that went down at the 2009 celebration. Over the years, Trae has accused The Box’s parent company Radio One/ Urban One—which is reportedly the biggest radio broadcast outlet in the world—of blackballing him and banning his music from all of the urban radio stations after the incident even though it was proven that he had no connection to it.

In fact, even after all of the relief he provided to citizens after #HurricaneHarvey last year, our Roommates told us that the radio station had acknowledged every other celebrity except Trae who gave their time and money to help Houston. Radio One received a ton of backlash from fans and some even staged a boycott.

On January 17th of this year, Trae filed a lawsuit in the 269th District Court against Urban One, Inc., Radio One of Texas II, LLC and Terri Thomas, complaint last month. Terri is the current Program Director/Operations Manager for Urban Hip-Hop and R&B Station 97.9 The Box.

Per court documents obtained by @HouBizJournal, Trae is formally accusing Radio One and Terri of “gross negligence, defamation, and tortious interference with prospective relations by an on-going ban against Trae Tha Truth from all things Urban One/Radio One.”
