Nothing Rachel Dolezal does should come as a surprise #Roommates! The 39-year-old white former NAACP leader decided she wanted to change her name so she could feel more connected to her heritage.
According to NY Daily News, she changed her name back in October to Nkechi Amare Diallo.
“Nkechi short for Nkechinyere, comes from the Igbo word for “what God has given” or “gift of God” in Nigeria. Diallo, which has African origins, means “bold.”
Dolezal tweeted Wednesday that he story behind my name change will be in my book.”
