#TSRFoodies: Okay Roommates, I know I’m not the only one who missed the classic Trix cereal! 90s kids know that back in the day, the childhood favorite used to have fruity shapes as opposed to the current balls.

Well, after a 12-year hiatus, we’re going to get a taste of our childhood again! That’s right — issa re-release y’all! According to General Mills, the fruit shapes are making a comeback this fall after the company received over 20,000 requests from cereal lovers and folks on social media for the shapes to return.

“Trix cereal is beloved by our fans, and we heard loud and clear that they wanted to see the iconic shapes back in their bowls,” said Scott Baldwin, General Mills’ director of marketing. “When Trix launched in 1954, it was the first fruit-flavored cereal that was colorful and fun.”

“We’re excited to continue that legacy, bringing an extra dose of joy to breakfast,” he added.

Fun fact: Trix were only fruit-shaped between 1991 and 2006. The original cereal that debuted in 1954 was made of pastel colored, ball-shaped bites but the company decided to do a revamp in ’91 to the fruit shapes everyone loved.

“The reintroduction of Classic Trix Fruity Shapes, follows the re-release of Classic Trix last year, which contained artificial colours and flavours as some consumers claimed that the naturally-coloured version of the cereal was ‘not colourful enough,’ FoodBev Media reports.

According to General Mills, Trix is reportedly “fortified with 12 vitamins and minerals, and made from whole grain” and “is also a good source of calcium.”

Sources say the new Trix will hit shelves nationwide in the US this month with it’s classic fruity flavors, including raspberry red, lemony lemon, orangey orange, wildberry blue, grapity purple and watermelon.

Roommates, are you here for this new Trix release? What was your favorite cereal growing up?
