#TSRPositiveImages: Dallas Middle School Asks For 50 Volunteers For New “Breakfast With Dads” Program, Nearly 600 Men Show Up!

Now this is the kind of news we love to hear, #Roommates! A South Dallas middle school recently shared a Facebook post asking for 50 to 100 male mentors for their first ever “Breakfast With Dads” event. There was fear there wouldn’t be enough dads for the students, but the response was overwhelming!

According to Dallas News, nearly 600 men arrived at Billy Earl Dade Middle School to volunteer! The men came from diverse backgrounds and occupations but they all showed up for the same cause… to offer mentorship and positive male role models to the 11 to 13-year-old boys.

Principal Tracie Washington expressed her gratitude because some dads couldn’t make it and other students didn’t have a father figure to invite. “This turnout is a testament to show [what happens] when a school and a community come together,” she said.
