#TSRPositiveImages: Historic Black Church Raises $100K For Howard University Students

Alfred Street Baptist church raised $100,000 for Howard University students.
Mya Thompson, a  student from Howard University was super excited to graduate in May but realized before she can graduate she owes the school more than $2,000. The single mother was unaware how she was going to raise that much money in only a few months. The office of financial aid reached out to Thompson to let her know they had an amazing opportunity that would help her.
When Thompson went to the financial aid office, she was surprised by the pastors of Alfred Street Baptist Church from Alexandria, Virginia. They told her they would cover the amount she owed.
Come to find out, these pastors raised an overall $100,000 for students who were in need of paying their college tuition at Howard University. They helped a total of 34 students who were in debt #Roommates!
They have also reached out to a historically all black women’s college, Bennett College, they will be donating $50,000 to help the finances department.
