#TSRTakeAMoment: Woman Mourns The Loss Of 9 Family Members In Missouri Duck Boat Tragedy

#Roommates, please keep Tia Coleman in your prayers. We are heartbroken to report that nine of her family members lost their lives on a tour boat that sank into a Missouri lake on Thursday.

According to CBS News, the duck boat had 31 people aboard and a severe thunderstorm caused intense waves and winds. Sadly, 17 people lost their lives, and Coleman was one of the 14 survivors.

“I said, ‘Jesus please keep me, just keep me so I can get to my children,'” Coleman told reporters. She spotted a rescue boat after coming up for air and swam to it as fast as she could. CNN reports her husband, their three children (ages 1,7 and 9), sister-in-law, 2-year-old nephew, mother-in-law, father-in-law and her husband’s uncle all lost their lives in the deadly accident.

Coleman said she and her family members were not wearing life jackets because the captain told them “don’t worry about grabbing the life jackets – you won’t need them,.”
